Invitation to Dinner from Sir Tim

Hi pipol

Sir Tim has invited the DMC members (along with the members of other committees in the dorm) to a dinner after the mass this Sunday. I think it's a sort of "committee night" sponsored by Sir Tim to thank the committees and their members for our contributions this school year.

YEY

So sino ang makakapunta?

I hope you get to read this by tonight... So that I can tell Mikee Solomon how many can come, at para mareport niya kay Sir Tim yung number of people na makakapunta, at ma estimate ni Sir Tim kung gaano kadami yung food ang ipiprepare for that night...

So, ulit... Sino ang makakapunta?

Rooney returns as Wenger lauds Man Utd

Wayne Rooney returns for Manchester United tonight as they take on Fulham at Old Trafford in a rearranged Premier League match. "United will move five points clear at the top of the Barclays Premier League if they win their game in hand at home to Fulham this evening, with Arsene Wenger, the Arsenal manager, claiming that the English, European and world champions are in a league of their own as they pursue a fifteenth victory in 16 matches in all competitions," reports the Times. "Arsenal went the entire 2003-04 league campaign undefeated and were subsequently labelled 'The Invincibles' - and now Wenger has branded United 'The Untouchables', a side who are seemingly as fearless as the group of American law enforcement agents of the same name led by Eliot Ness during the Prohibition era. In the past, such remarks could have been intended to lull United into a false sense of security, but the Arsenal manager was generous in his praise of a team who have their sights set on an unprecedented ‘quintuple’. 'Manchester United look untouchable because they're 12 points ahead [of us] and have a game against Fulham they'll certainly win,' Wenger said."

Man Utd on course for record haul - Yey!

Manchester United remain on course for an achievement unparalleled in footballing history, as they continue to hunt silverware on every front, writes Kaveh Solhekol in the Times.

'Quintuple' is not in the Cambridge Advanced Learner's Dictionary, but it probably will be in the next edition if Man Utd win five trophies this season.

Sir Alex Ferguson's team lifted the Fifa Club World Cup in Japan in December and are top of the Barclays Premier League. They will play Spurs in the Carling Cup final a week on Sunday, are in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup and will be in the last eight of the Champions League if they get past Inter Milan in the first knockout round of the competition.

Ferguson prefers not to talk about the quintuple, but the United manager and his players are 25 games away from an incredible achievement.

If they had not lost 2-1 to Zenit St Petersburg in the Uefa Super Cup in Monaco in August, they would be chasing a sextuple and if you throw in the Community Shield - won by beating Portsmouth on penalties at Wembley Stadium - it could have been a septuple.

Football players and managers are notoriously reticent when it comes to talking about what they could win in the future and in public they prefer to take one game at a time.

'We don't think of ourselves as invincible, but we are in good form and on a great run,' Ryan Giggs said after United beat Derby County 4-1 in the FA Cup fifth round on Sunday."

MOO Campaign - Email from Mikey Solomon

My Own OrSem

What Is My Own OrSem?

My Own ORSEM (MOO) is an opportunity. It is a chance for every ARSAn to be heard, be creative, and be a part of a big Residence Halls tradition.

For the first time ever, the Residence Halls is opening the ORSEM doors to welcome fresh, new, creative ideas on how to better orient the freshmen. In the past years, the task of designing the annual Dorm ORSEM was solely delegated to a group of ARSAns, the ORSEM Core, who painstakingly design each and every minute of the ORSEM Season. This year, given that the Residence Halls is facing new circumstances brought about by its physical expansion, the Residence Halls Administration and the ARSA Dorm Council is welcoming new ideas, fresh initiatives, and creative programs to be included in the formation of a new ORSEM Design.

This is your opportunity ARSAn. The ORSEM is finally up to you. Show us what you got.

Where to begin?

Before you get down and dirty, familiarize yourself with the main objectives of the Dorm ORSEM as these are the key essential elements in considering the merit of your suggestions/proposals.

Objectives of the ORSEM

  1. To build a Community among ARSAns, especially among the Freshmen;
  2. To introduce the Freshmen to the ARSA community and vice versa;
  3. To introduce the Freshmen to the CORE VALUES of ARSA and the Residence Halls;
  4. To introduce the Freshmen to the ARSA way of life and instill the pride of being resident students;
  5. To orient the freshmen on dorm policies, personnel, and structure.

How to be part of My Own ORSEM?

With the objectives in mind, the task is quite simple. Create, Design, Develop an ORSEM Program/Activity that will satisfy the objectives and give the freshmen the time of their lives.

  1. Grab a form from any DC Member. Forms are also available at the Residence Halls Office, the Bulletin Boards, and online.
  2. Fill out the forms. Don’t skip on the required fields.
  3. Submit your forms and accompanying necessary attachments to myownorsem@gmail.com.

It’s that simple! You may design an entire ORSEM program or just a single activity. It’s all up to you. You may do this by yourself or design this with your barkada, roommates, or loved ones who are passionate about dorm life.

So let us know what you have in mind. Be a part of ARSA history. Be the change you wish to see.

This is ARSA!

Then attached to this e-mail is the poster for the campaign.
Please help spread the word guys. It would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Mikey

Sana makakapag donate tayo...

Pipol, the Dorm Council has asked all the committee heads to announce that donations for the victims of the flash floods and landslides in Cagayan de Oro are needed. We can donate clothes, medicine, food, blankets, and (preferably daw) cash.

I think we've all already received an email regarding this, but I guess nangangailangan ng isa pang shout out to everyone.

You can bring your donations to any offiver of the Dorm Council, or you can give them to me (hindi ako mangungurakot, pramis, hehe).

Kahit hindi cash daw, if you can donate anything else that can help, please do so.

Let's also not forget to pray for them. They need our prayers as much as they need our donations.

Guys, salamat...

Pipol...

Tungkol sa nangyaring "discussion" between DMC and Fr. Jboy... I just wanted to thank all of you for being there... Whether you said something or not, I sincerely thank you... I wouldn't have been able to confront Fr. Jboy that way if you weren't there for support.

Salamat sa lahat na nagsalita: sina Claudia, Ken, Marc, and Karla. Karla, salamat at nandun ka para maclarify yung ibig kong sabihin, hindi talaga kami nagkakaintindihan ni Father, hehe. Marc, Jan Jan, Papi, Ken, and Mike, who told me before the mass started that it was time to talk to Fr. Jboy - thanks for speaking up. Anyway, to the rest of you, thank you for your opinions. Thank you so much for just being there. I guess the best way I can put it is we backed each other up, and it was that silent support that I want to thank you for.

Para akong nanalo ng Oscars a. Puro thank you.

Haha.

I know overload na sa thank you, but to summarize na lang, despite all my shortcomings as DMC Head, I needed you and you were there (I didn't want to sound like some cliched line from an overplayed song, but that's how I really feel about it). So thank you so much. I sincerely couldn't have done it without you.

I hope what happened outside of the Gesu after the Jan 11 Sunday mass was for the best. I don't know if it turned out the way you hoped or expected it to turn out. At the very least, I'm glad that Fr. Jboy knows where we stand.

Well.. Hanggang dito na lang ang post na to. Guys, salamat. Sobra.
